Lotus Domino 6 Multi-Versioning Support on the IBM iSeries Server

With the Domino 6.5.0 and 6.0.3 releases, IBM Lotus introduces multi-version capabilities for Domino on the IBM eServer iSeries platform. Before now, customers who wanted to run more than one release of Domino on a single iSeries server were forced to run them on separate OS/400 logical partitions (LPARs). This was not always a viable solution. Beginning with 6.5.0 and 6.0.3, Domino for iSeries supports multiple releases of Domino running in the same OS/400 partition.

Multi-versioning provides more flexibility for Domino for iSeries customers. You can run different applications on different release levels of Domino within a single OS/400 partition. A significant advantage of this support is that you do not need to end your Domino servers when upgrading to a new Domino release. Since the existing servers are no longer automatically updated to the new release, these servers can remain active during installation. This allows you to continue running production servers on one release, while testing new servers and applications on another release. Operating in this mixed environment can increase the stability of both testing and production environments.

This IBM Redbook helps you to implement multi-versioning support on the iSeries server. It targets system administrators who plan to use the multi-versioning capabilities of Domino for iSeries. This redbook provides tips and techniques to help you successfully implement a Domino for iSeries multi-versioning environment.
