Migrating to HACMP/ES

HACMP/ES became available across the entire RS/6000 product range with release 4.3. Previously, it was only supported on the SP2 system. This redbook focuses on migration from HACMP to HACMP/ES using the node-by- node migration feature, which was introduced with HACMP 4.3.1.

This document will be especially useful for system administrators currently running both HACMP and HACMP/ES clusters who may wish to consolidate their environment and move to HACMP/ES at some point in the future. There is a detailed description of a node-by-node migration to HACMP/ES and a comprehensive discussion on how to prepare for an upgrade or migration.

This redbook contains useful information about HACMP in addition to HACMP/ES, which should help a system administrator understand the lifecycle of their high availability (HA) software and the upgrade or migration paths available.
