Domino for S/390 and Web Server Integration

This redbook describes how to customize and use the Domino for IBM HTTP Server, a component available in Domino R5.0.1. This component supports the use of the IBM HTTP Server for OS/390 to process HTTP requests for Domino databases. In this book we refer to the Domino for IBM HTTP Server as the Web connector.

This book briefly describes the setup of the environment needed to run the Domino for IBM HTTP Server, including Domino 5.0.1 for OS/390 and the IBM HTTP Server 5.1 for OS/390. We describe the differences between the Domino internal HTTP task and the Web connector, as well as how to migrate from the Domino HTTP task to the Web connector.

To help you decide how and when to use the Domino for IBM HTTP Server, we also provide you with different scenarios and usage examples. We give detailed information about security, authentication and electronic certificates to be used with Domino through the Web connector. We also provide troubleshooting tips in case you run into any problems.

We amassed a lot of experience while using the products and testing the different scenarios. All this experience is presented in this book and it will help you to set up a Domino for IBM HTTP Server environment very smoothly.

We wrote this redbook for Domino administrators, Webmasters and systems programmers who install or customize the Domino for IBM HTTP Server on OS/390 or migrate to this environment. It will also help the operations staff to run the environment.
