Early Experiences Using NetView V3R1 "Classic" Functions

This document describes the enhancements made to NetView Version 3
for MVS/ESA. The majority of the enhancements described in
detail in this document are associated with the Classic NetView
functions, which refer to the Procedural option of NetView documented
in the NetView Version 3 for MVS/ESA announcement letter. The detailed
sections of this document describe the enhancements made to NetView
in the area of security, PF key integration, browse improvements,
VIEW application changes, additional pipeline automation stages,
and the other enhancements made to the base functions of NetView.
This document also covers installing NetView using the NIAF/2
installation tool.
This document does not cover in any detail the enhancements
that are part of the Enterprise option of NetView. This includes
the enhancements to RODM, GMFHS, and NGMF, and the new SNA topology
manager component. This document also does not cover the session
monitor or hardware monitor enhancements that are in NetView V3R1.
This is covered in Dynamic Subarea and APPN Management Using NetView
V3R1, SG24-4520.
This document assumes that you have working knowledge of NetView's
functions and terminology. The intended audience for this document are
system programmers, network analysts, and network operators.
