Muzio Clementi's "Introduction to the Art of Playing on the Piano Forte (Op. 42)" was first published in 1801, and still, after over 220 years, this method is by far the most comprehensive, concise, and applicable to beginning piano students who are serious about their musical education.Unlike Beyer (Op. 101), which is a book of beginning exercises to assist in reading, finger dexterity, and hand coordination, this book draws from a collection of 50 short pieces written by composers such as J.S. Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and more.Prior to the 50 short pieces, we can find brilliantly simple proofs, explanations, and examples for understanding how to read music, rhythmic values, decipher musical symbols, apply helpful fingering, and more.To add to the allure of Muzio Clementi's "Introduction to the Art of Playing on the Piano Forte (Op. 42)," Beethoven is known to have endorsed this method, and Chopin even used it with his students! If you, your child, or someone you know wish to embark on the endless journey of playing the piano in an intelligent, resilient manner, then I highly recommend purchasing this piano book. This is bound with spiral binding so that the book will never close when playing, and arranged so that the fewest number of page-turns are required for a single piece.Muzio Clementi (January 23, 1752 March 10, 1832) was an Italian-born English composer, virtuoso pianist, pedagogue, conductor, music publisher, editor, and piano manufacturer, who was mostly active in England. Influenced by Domenico Scarlatti's harpsichord school and Haydn's classical school and by the stile Galante of Johann Christian Bach, Clementi developed a fluent and technical legato style, which he passed on to a generation of pianists, including John Field (an influence of Chopin's "Nocturnes") and Carl Czerny (student of Beethoven/teacher of Franz Liszt).
