The CODEX of Wu-Chi

The Codex of Wu-Chi is the culmination of more than six decades of martial arts study, research, instruction, and real world application by retired U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant Dale Simmons.

Beginning his martial arts journey at the age of nine, Simmons has devoted his life to the study of hand to hand combat. Over the years, he has compiled more than 28,000 pages of original notes, illustrations, and research, supported by a personal reference library of more than 3,500 martial arts books.

This comprehensive manual builds on his previous works, The 12 Colors of Combat and Life of Combat, completing a three book series that explores both the theory and practice of close quarters combat.

Designed as both a reference guide and a training manual, The Codex of Wu-Chi presents a systematic approach to understanding the principles of hand to hand combat. Rather than focusing on any single martial arts style, the book emphasizes universal concepts that practitioners from virtually any discipline can study and apply. The author introduces his own theories, training methods, and instructional techniques developed throughout his career.

During his military service, Simmons developed and taught the Soviet based hand to hand combat system he called Counter-Sambo, training 93 U.S. Marines to instructor level at Camp Pendleton. His experiences, along with stories from his personal journey, are detailed in his autobiography, Life of Combat.

The spiral bound format allows the book to remain open during practice, making it easy for students to follow the lessons while performing drills and exercises. An electronic edition is also available for use on a tablet or computer during training.

Whether you are a beginning student, an experienced martial artist, a member of law enforcement, or military personnel seeking to expand your understanding of close combat principles, The Codex of Wu-Chi offers a detailed course of study based on a lifetime of research and instruction.

A companion Simmons History USB is also available from Vervante for readers interested in exploring more of the author's work.
