This document describes VisualAge, a high-productivity application
development tool for workstation applications in a client/server
environment, based on the new construction from parts technology.
Applications are created by laying out reusable components on a design
surface, and then developing functional relationships among parts by
drawing lines between them. The user interface is constructed in a
similar way. Connections are made between user interface parts and
from user interface parts to nonvisual parts to specify the behavior
of the application when it runs. This document provides a description
of the concepts and features of the product from a high-level overview
to its more detailed aspects, with focus on its most innovative aspects:
visual programming and construction from parts.
