This redbook is primarily intended for customers planning to implement the CICS Web Interface and the 3270 bridging function of CICS Transaction Server for OS/390 Version 1 Release 2. Customers using this function in CICS Transaction Server Version 1 Release 3, should refer instead to the recent redbook SG24-5480.

The redbook consists of two parts:
Part 1 gives a broad understanding of the CICS Web Interface. It contains examples of customized CWI analyzers, converters, and HTML-aware applications. Special consideration is given to secure access to CICS facilities through the OS/390 Web server (Lotus Domino Go Webserver).

Part 2 overviews the 3270 bridging function and provides actual implementation steps for the two IBM-provided solutions: the Web bridge and the MQSeries/ESA bridge. The latter is a feature of MQSeries/ESA Version 1 Release 2.
