development from an object-based perspective. Although VisualGen is
not a pure object-oriented programming environment it is still
possible to develop GUI applications with object-based techniques.

A method for viewing VisualGen GUI application development from an
object perspective is defined, and a sample application system built
by using object-based techniques is discussed.

A layered GUI application development technique that reduces the
complexity of VisualGen development is demonstrated in the sample
GUI application system provided as part of this document.
