This redbook will help you understand and use the
functions offered by MSS Server Release 2.1, MSS Client
and MSS Domain Client. Proper understanding of the
technology and following the configuration examples given
in this publication will be helpful in designing and
building an ATM network using IBM's Multiprotocol
Switching Services.

This redbook also includes the functions delivered with
MSS Release 2.0.1 such as SuperELAN Bridging (TB/SRB),
MAC Address VLANs, and Sliding Window VLANs.

With MSS Release 2.1, MSS Server has clients such as MSS
Client and MSS Domain Client. New functions such as
multiprotocol over ATM, Enterprise Extender (APPN HPR
over IP), MARS, Peer ARP-Server Redundancy, DLSW, and
Dynamic Protocol Filtering Enhancements are delivered in
addition to the new hardware, such as MSS Client and
Domain Client.

Due to its versatility, getting started with the
MSS Server can sometimes create difficulties. Therefore,
a number of configuration examples are provided.

We recommend that you read this publication in
conjunction with Understanding and Using the MSS
Server, SG24-4915 and Understanding and Using the MSS
Release 1.1 and 2.0, SG24-2115.
