IBM 2216 and Network Utility Host Channel Connections

This redbook will help you understand and use the functions offered by the IBM 2216 Nways Multiaccess Connector and the IBM Network Utility as host channel-attached boxes. Proper understanding of the technology and following the configuration examples given in this publication will be helpful in implementing ESCON/parallel channel connections using the IBM 2216 and Network Utility.

This redbook includes MPC+, LSA and LCS as channel protocols. In addition to these channel protocols, such network protocols as TCP/IP, APPN/HPR, APPN/ISR, SNA subarea, and DLSw, as well as TN3270E Server and 3172 emulation scenarios, are also included and presented with their corresponding host (VTAM and TCP/IP) definitions.

The scenarios in this redbook were developed under Multiprotocol Access Services (MAS) Version 3.2, but the LCS 3172 emulation section was run on MAS 3.2 PTF 01.
