This redbook discusses the new Tivoli Management Framework Server and Gateway for OS/390, 5697-D10, and its applications. The topics covered range from installing and configuring the Tivoli Management Region functionality on OS/390 through migrating a UNIX-based Tivoli Management Region server to an OS/390-based Tivoli Management Region Server.

We first introduce the environment that is used throughout the book. This discussion explores the machines that are used in our project, the UNIX Tivoli Management Region (TMR) setup, and the basic OS/390 environment. This serves as an informational base for the entire book.

Next, we describe our experience in implementing a Tivoli Management Region on OS/390 systems. We provide a step-by-step description of the TMR on OS/390 implementation. We then document the procedures and actions that we perform to migrate the existing UNIX-based TMR to an OS/390-based TMR. The information here includes the specific migration considerations that are typical of the OS/390 environment.
