SecureWay Communications Server for OS/390 V2R8 TCP/IP: Guide to Enhancements

This redbook provides information to facilitate the configuration and use of the brand-new technologies and functions supported in SecureWay Communications Server for OS/390 V2R8. In this release, various functional enhancements have been added. However, our special areas of interest in this book are security and Quality of Service.

To address security issues, two significant enhancements have been introduced: the IKE support for IPSec and the Client Authentication support by the Telnet server. We study the practical ways of implementation and verify the interoperability with products on various platforms. In the QoS area, the RSVP agent has been integrated into CS for OS/390, which provides the Integrated Services to support real-time transmissions and guaranteed bandwidth in the IP network. The SLA SNMP subagent, which is another new component related to the QoS functions, enables the network management to monitor the network performance with various measurement.

This redbook will help you to implement the value-added IP networks with OS/390 using some of the most recent technologies provided in CS for OS/390 V2R8.
