CICS Transaction Server for OS/390 Version 1 Release 3: Web Support and 3270 Bridge

This redbook is primarily intended for customers planning
to implement the CICS Web Support and the 3270 bridging
function of CICS Transaction Server for OS/390 Version 1 Release 3
or migrate from earlier releases.

It assumes a certain level of knowledge of the
Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and understanding of
the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and 3270 data streams.

First, we provide
a broad understanding of CICS Web Support,
describing the function of CWS analyzers, with
examples of converters, various CWS tools,
and Web-aware applications.

Special consideration is given to extensions to the CICS API
in support of Web and TCP/IP access (TCP/IP API, Web API,
and Document API) and to secure access through
the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).

Next, we explain the 3270 bridging function,
and provide actual implementation steps for the three
IBM-provided solutions: the Web bridge, the CICS Business Transaction
Services bridge, and the MQSeries/ESA bridge.

The latter is a feature of MQSeries for OS/390 Version 2 Release 1.

We also discuss use of CICS 3270 Bridge SupportPacs CA1E and CA8E
and show how they can be used to facilitate implementation
of the 3270 Bridge.

By adopting the techniques presented in this redbook, you
can make a variety of your transactional applications available
for Web use, and for reuse in CICS BTS applications,
and thus significantly enlarge your
user base.
