The Persistence Builder is the transaction and persistence framework
feature of the IBM VisualAge for Java Enterprise Version 2and 3 product.

The Persistence Builder enables your object models to persist in
relational data stores. Creating the persistence layer is accomplished
using the Persistence Builder tool set. The tool set helps you describe
the business objects in your model that will persist in a data store.

The tools generate the supporting code that services your persistent
business as well as data definition language for relational databases
to create the tables.

The Persistence Builder supports various development paths from the model
top-down to the database, from the database bottom-up to the model, and
mapping a model to a database schema with the options to mix full
generation, partial generation, and manually entered definitions for the
components along the path.
