This redbook is a presentation guide designed to give you an overview of Oracle Products OS/390, and to show how these applications are architected to run on OS/390. The advantages of using the S/390 for Oracle Applications are described, and implementation planning considerations for this solution are also provided.

This redbook addresses three audiences: IBM field personnel, Oracle field personnel, and our joint customers.

The purpose is to provide:
Oracle knowledge to IBMers
IBM knowledge to Oracle people
Insight into how IBM and Oracle work together to provide a solution to customers
Businesses are currently upgrading their information technology systems, often by choosing to use off-the-shelf application packages such as Oracle Applications, to increase efficiency and competitiveness in the marketplace. With the Oracle Applications suite of products, customers can choose from over 45 modules that are easily tailorable to their needs.

Because these applications often become mission-critical to a business, they are best run on a mature, secure, scalable platform such as the S/390.
