CCF Connectors and Database Connections Using WebSphere Advanced Edition Connecting Enterprise Information Systems to the Web

This IBM Redbook provides practical examples that demonstrate database connection and CCF Connector usage using the WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition V3. The discussions and program designs provided in this book follow the Patterns for e-business, U2B pattern, and topology 1 and 2.

The first part of this book discusses how to use CCF Connectors with the VisualAge for Java Enterprise Access Builder tool. The connectors introduced in this book are the CICS Connector, MQSeries Connector, and IMS Connector. The second part of the book discusses different technologies for databases to connect to the Web. We discuss JDBC 1.x, JDBC 2.0, Data Access JavaBeans, Data Access Builder, and session EJB. We also discuss how to implement transactional database interactions.

All the examples are based on the command framework provided by the Pattern Development Kit (PDK.) In the last part of the book, we provide extended samples of the original PDK. Most of the examples are proved with standalone and base servlet redirector configurations.

This book will help developers, Java programmers, and system architects who need to build e-business applications that use connectors.
