Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) is Tivoli's strategic, multiplatform distributed scheduling product that provides high-volume, complex scheduling capability. Although TWS has native support for many platforms and applications, it is possible to extend the TWSÆs robust scheduling capabilities to cover platforms and applications beyond those TWS supports. The way to do this is to write an Extended agent. This redbook shows you how to write a TWS Extended agent that allows you to schedule on platforms and applications for which TWS has no native agent.
