Installing new operating systems and applications on to usersÆ PCs can be a very time consuming task, especially if the application sets continually change and the situation involves groups of users, each with different requirements.

IBMÆs solution is a set of three tools bundled together as the System Installation Tool Kit. These software products are LANClient Control Manager (LCCM), Software Delivery Assistant (SDA) and Software Migration Assistant (SMA).

LCCM is used for deployment automation and process control. SMA lets you easily migrate end-user and system settings from one hardware or Windows platform to another. SDA automates the deployment of applications and, at the same time, limits the need for multiple image updates.
