About The Photographer

Li Yushan, is a bird photographer, activist for wildlife protection, and senior consultant for ecological photography of the charity Let Migratory Birds Fly. He is one of the few specialist wild bird ecological photographers in China and has taken his camera all over this vast country from the Tibetan highlands to the deserts of Xinjiang and the snowy wastes of Northeast China. So as to capture the best images, he has endured many hardships including extreme temperatures; the snowy owl image in this calendar was captured at minus 42 degrees Celsius. In Yushans words, shooting wild birds is an uncontrollable process and every image has its story.
