Biography for Beth Syverson
Beth Syverson has been a musician her whole life. She started playing piano at age 3, started playing oboe at age 10, majored in oboe and piano performance at Drake University (Des Moines, Iowa), and received a master’s degree in music history from California State University, Fullerton.

Beth’s specialties include:
  • Special Needs music teacher – Beth has taught music to students with special needs for 12 years. She specializes in teaching visually impaired students how to read music Braille; and she has years of experience teaching students with intellectual disabilities such as autism and Down Syndrome. She teaches private lessons in Costa Mesa, CA; online lessons via Skype, and with Coastline Community College’s Special Programs in Newport Beach, CA.
  • Online music teacher – Beth teaches live music lessons and classes via Skype and Zoom to people around the globe.
  • Singer’s Notebook – Beth created this tool for self-discovery, goal-setting, and organization
  • Collaborative pianist for all styles of music
  • Choral conductor for Orange Coast Choir (Orange Coast Unitarian Universalist Church), and assistant conductor for Long Beach Chorale and Chamber Orchestra
  • Composer and arranger, including “Reflections on ‘We Shall Overcome.'”
  • Creative Concert Kits – Beth loves to create themed concerts for choirs and instrumentalists. She will create a custom program for your group, or you can check out her themed concerts.
