This document provides implementation level detail about the functions
and enhancements of Versions 5.1.0 and 5.2.0 of JES2. It discusses the
parallel sysplex environment and provides information on JES common
coupling (JESXCF) services that allows JES2 members to communicate with
each other.
The JES2 requirements for setting up a sysplex and the placing of the
JES2 checkpoint in the coupling facility are also described. It details
the checkpoint reconfiguration dialog changes and how it is used to move
the checkpoint from DASD to the coupling facility.
The new features of MVS such as the MVS Operations Log (OPERLOG), and
the MVS Automatic Restart Manager (ARM) and their use with JES2 are
described. The new features of the System Display and Search Facility
(SDSF), Version 1 Release 4 and Version 1 Release 5 are described.
This redbook is helpful in planning a migration when converting to JES2
Version 5 and the coexistence of different levels of JES2 Version 5.
This document was written for systems programmers and IBM technical
personnel involved with the installation of JES2.
