System/390 MVS/ESA Version 5 Workload Manager Performance Studies

This document is unique in its detailed coverage of the MVS
workload manager, the system resource manager (SRM), and the new
functions of Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) Version 5.

It provides performance analysis of the new MVS workload manager
function and the modified SRM component in MVS/ESA Version 5
Release 1.0. Together, they dynamically manage the performance
of work in systems that are part of a sysplex.

The MVS workload manager also provides services for subsystems
such as CICS/VS and IMS/VS to identify and control their
transactions. Services are also provided to track the response
