Few people use a planner the same way. One buyer needs a Monday-start week with vertical daily pages. Another wants Sunday-start with a horizontal weekly spread and room for habit tracking. The planner that fits one buyer is wrong for the next.
For 25 years, Vervante has helped creators move past the one-size-fits-all problem. With our build-your-own planner production, you offer your buyers a planner they configure themselves: cover, layout, calendar setup, sections, and add-ons. You set the menu. We handle production from order to ship. Build-your-own works alongside our broader custom planner and journal production, so creators with multiple product lines can use one fulfillment partner across all of them.
A configurable planner does three things at once. It widens your audience, because a buyer who would have passed on a fixed format will buy a version tailored to how they plan. It raises your average order value, because configuration options carry premium tiers. And it keeps your upfront commitment low: zero on the print-on-demand path, or 25 units per cover design on the premium path.
The buyer feels the difference too. They are not settling for the closest match. They are buying the planner they would have designed for themselves.
You design the configurations and decide which options to offer your buyers. The menu below shows the kinds of options creators commonly include. Your menu is not limited to this list. If there is a section, layout, or add-on you want to offer that is not shown here, we can produce it as long as you supply the file.
Build-your-own planners offer two cover production paths. Print-on-demand covers require no inventory and are fully personalizable per order. Choose softcover at 12 pt, 14 pt, or 18 pt; poly paper; or a frosted poly overlay over softcover. Stocked covers require a 25-unit minimum per design and include hardcover in printed, faux leather, or linen; board covers in 24 pt, 36 pt, or 48 pt; and 10mil laminated.
You design the layouts and decide which configurations to offer. Common options creators include in their menu are Sunday-start or Monday-start weeks; 12-month, 18-month, or undated calendars; daily pages as vertical, horizontal, or two-page spreads; weekly pages as vertical columns or horizontal rows; and time blocking as hourly, half-hourly, or open.
You design the additional sections and decide which to include in your menu. Common options creators offer are goal setting, habit tracker, gratitude, meal planning, fitness or wellness, project planning, and note pages in lined, dot grid, or blank.
Trim size can be anything up to 8.5 x 11 inches. Binding is metal spiral or Wire-O, both produced on demand. Other binding methods we offer (disc punch, PUR casebound, Smyth sewn) require traditional print runs and are not part of the build-your-own program. Pocket folders and tabs are added on demand with no minimum. Elastic strap, ribbon, and pen loop are available on stocked hardcovers.
All interior options are produced from the PDF files you supply. We help you map your file set to part numbers when we set up your program.
For your buyers who want a planner with a name, initials, a quote, or a dedication on the cover, the print-on-demand cover path supports per-order personalization.
Your designer creates a field in the cover PDF where the personalized content goes. The personalized text is supplied with each order, and we add it to the cover at the moment of printing. This works the same way as our personalized certificates and other custom products with variable content.
Your product mix determines which path each order takes.
If you offer only print-on-demand cover types (softcover, poly, frosted poly), every order is produced fresh: cover printed, interior printed, assembled, shipped.
If you offer hardcover, board, or 10mil laminated cover options, we stock those covers in your committed quantities and assemble to order. The interior is printed on demand and bound to the appropriate cover.
We assign a part number to each component when we set up your program. When an order comes in from your store, the part numbers on each line item tell us which components to pull or print, and how to assemble.
All build-your-own planner orders ship in our standard 3 to 5 business day print-on-demand window. This applies whether the cover is print-on-demand or pulled from your stocked inventory.
If you are launching a new stocked cover design (hardcover, board, or 10mil laminated), allow 10 to 20 business days for the initial 25-unit cover production. This is a one-time setup step. Once your covers are in our facility, every subsequent order ships in the same 3 to 5 business day window.
We assign part numbers and walk you through the production setup. When orders arrive, you transmit the part numbers for each line item, and we take it from there.
Build-your-own planner production is a service that lets you offer your buyers a planner they configure themselves on your store. You design the covers, page layouts, calendar setups, sections, and add-ons. Buyers choose from the menu you create. Vervante prints and assembles each order based on the part numbers you transmit, then ships the finished product to the buyer.
There is no minimum on individual buyer orders. The print-on-demand cover path requires no inventory at all. The stocked cover path (hardcover, board, 10mil laminated) requires a minimum of 25 covers per design each time you order them, including reprints.
You provide print-ready PDF files for each cover design and each interior layout option you want to offer. We assign part numbers to every component when we set up your program.
Yes, on the print-on-demand cover path. Your designer creates a field in the cover PDF for the personalized content, which is supplied with each order.
You create the covers and content. We print and assemble them. The configurations on this page are common starting points, not a fixed catalog.
Setup time depends on how many options you want to offer and whether you are using stocked covers. Print-on-demand-only programs can be live within days of receiving your files. Programs with stocked covers require 10 to 20 business days for the initial cover production. Once your program is set up, individual orders ship in our standard 3 to 5 business day window.
Whatever stage you are at, here is where to start.
